Real name: Harbor SealThis is Popeye, the harbor seal.
Harbor seals love living in cold water. They swim in the North Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Often found in shallow water areas.
I've seen one seal sitting on a step at Sydney Harbour, Opera House. They also have some very well trained seals and sea lions at Pet Porpoise Pool in Coffs Harbour. They can perform some very cool tricks.
They are pinnipeds. which means they are fin footed. They are brown, tan or gray in colour. Some have spots.
They enjoy eating a diet of fish, such as flounder, herring, perch, anchovy, sea bass and cod, etc sometimes having some octopus or squid and shrimp.
They are about 1.2 to 2 metres in length. The males are heavier, they can weigh up to 170kgs.
